Veterans Sub-Committee

The Bucks County Suicide Prevention Task Force is proud to support our local veterans through the dedicated work of the Veteran Subcommittee. This group is committed to promoting veteran suicide prevention, awareness, and support throughout our community.

Who We Are

The Subcommittee is made up of veterans and community members who are passionate about supporting those who served our country. Together, we share a mission: to prevent suicide, reduce stigma, and ensure that every veteran knows they are not alone.

The Subcommittee is led by Tom Roskowski, a proud veteran and co-chair of the Bucks County Suicide Prevention Task Force. Under his leadership, the group works with dedication, compassion, and the understanding that comes from lived experience.

The Veterans Subcommittee is dedicated to helping protecting the lives and well-being of those who have served in the armed forces. We recognize that veterans and active-duty military personnel face unique challenges that can increase the risk of suicide, such as combat stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), difficulties transitioning to civilian life, and the lingering effects of military service. Our mission is to bring hope, connection, and practical support to every veteran in Bucks County, ensuring that no one struggles alone.

What We Do

The Veterans Subcommittee focuses on proactive outreach and compassionate care through a variety of initiatives:

  • Community Events & Awareness Campaigns
We host and participate in events that welcome veterans, their families, and supporters to learn about suicide prevention, share stories, and build meaningful relationships. From memorial walks to educational workshops, these gatherings help reduce stigma and spread life-saving information.

  • Tailored Resources for Veterans
We develop and distribute brochures, digital materials, and resource guides that address the specific mental-health needs of veterans and military personnel. These materials highlight warning signs, local and national helplines, and strategies for building resilience.

  • Crisis Support Partnerships
In collaboration with the Bucks County Veteran Response Team (VRT), we help ensure that veterans in crisis receive immediate, compassionate assistance. The VRT connects individuals with mental-health professionals, peer support, and emergency resources, providing care with the understanding and respect that every veteran deserves.

  • Building Strong Support Networks
By linking veterans with community organizations, healthcare providers, and fellow service members, we strengthen the network of care. Our goal is to create an environment where veterans and their families know where to turn and feel supported every step of the way.
