LGBTQ+ Suicide Prevention Sub-Committee
Who We Are
The Subcommittee is made up of LGBTQ+ individuals and allies who are deeply committed to creating a safe, supportive community for all. By bringing together diverse voices and experiences, the group ensures that suicide prevention efforts are inclusive, affirming, and accessible.
Members want to collaborate with local schools, healthcare providers, and advocacy organizations to promote mental health education and to reduce stigma around seeking help.
They are working to develop and share resources tailored to the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ youth and adults—such as identity-based discrimination, family rejection, and social isolation, while also advocating for policies that protect and uplift the community.
Through peer-led outreach, training sessions, and visibility at community events, the Subcommittee fosters connection and hope, demonstrating that every individual’s life and story are valued.
What We Do
The LGBTQ+ Subcommittee works to:
- Provide input on events and programs that highlight the needs and experiences of LGBTQ+ community members.
- Develop and distribute resources that affirm identity, encourage connection, and promote mental health.
- Create messages of hope and resilience through social media, video, and other creative outreach efforts.
- Build partnerships with local organizations and allies to strengthen support networks and reduce stigma.
