At Bucks County Suicide Prevention Task Force, we believe that suicide prevention starts with awareness, compassion, and action. QPR Training — which stands for Question, Persuade, Refer — gives individuals the tools and confidence to recognize the warning signs of suicide and help connect someone to the support they need.
Just like CPR helps save lives during a medical emergency, QPR can help save lives during a mental health crisis. This evidence-informed training empowers everyday people to respond when someone may be struggling with thoughts of suicide.
Participants learn how to identify verbal, behavioral, and situational warning signs that may indicate someone is in emotional distress or considering suicide.
Many people want to help but are unsure what to say. QPR Training teaches practical ways to ask direct and caring questions that can open the door to support and hope.
QPR provides simple, actionable steps to help de-escalate a crisis and encourage someone to seek professional help and community resources.
The skills learned in QPR Training can be applied in schools, workplaces, faith communities, healthcare settings, and everyday life.
Open conversations save lives. QPR Training helps create a culture where mental health challenges can be discussed with compassion and understanding.
When more people are trained in suicide prevention, communities become better equipped to recognize risk factors, intervene early, and support those in need.
One conversation can make all the difference. QPR Training equips individuals with the knowledge and confidence to act when it matters most and helps build a stronger, more supportive community for everyone.
